Because
it’s so warm year-round here in Arizona, I’m often battling with tough weeds. It
seems that no matter how often I pull the weeds, a few weeks later, there they are again.
Of course, we have very hard clay earth, and weeds grow deep roots to tap into underground
sources of water, so removing them completely means digging down pretty deep. Reminds me of coaching....or consulting, for that matter. What we each have available to us in our conscious minds is only a fraction of what's fully in us. What's visible, much like weeds, is only the surface, and it's usually where we place our focus. We think that something wrong in our world---workplace conflict, lack of respect, disorganization, etc, is the totality of the problem...but it's not. It's only what we see. And, because we wear blinders of our own biases, what we see is often not the real problem. We need to dig a bit deeper to see the root. "Problems
cannot be solved at the same level of awareness My coaching and consulting get at the root. Rarely do I accept anything at face value. I know that frequently what my clients think is the problem is often just a symptom of something bigger, and together we seek out what's really going on. We dig, we explore, we search and we devise.
